The village of CHEMIN – an oasis of tranquillity

This area of mountain greenery, far away from busy transport routes,
is an attractive location for all lovers of nature.

  • Walkers may ascend to Beau-Site via several different rambling trails through beautiful woodlands.

  • The miner’s track on Mont Chemin with information boards giving details of historical mining activities.

  • The village church was a special donation from Paris !*

  • In Chemin, bread is still made by hand in the old stone oven.

  • The drystone walls from yesteryear and of more recent origin are the home of many smaller species.

  • The children’s playground was built by the villagers themselves.

  • As a jogger, you will be able to reconnoiter the whole of Mont Chemin.

  • Chemin’s rock faces are known to climbers near and far

  • Biker 'freaks' are enamored of the steep and windy mountain road via Martigny – Chemin – Col des Planches (1000m climb in 10 km).

  • The 7-day circular "Tour de Combin" passes through Chemin.

  • Have you heard the legend of Catogne, the sleeping volcano ?

  • Many other features remain to be discovered on your walks over the wooded slopes of Mont Chemin.

  • In summer, the black 'Eringen' cows will be found grazing on the alpine pastures above Chemin.

  • The long-distance mountain trail starts at the hotel and leads to Pierre Avoi (2470m above sea level). From there, enjoy the magnificent views to Mont Blanc, the Valais and the Bernese Alps.

  • From this vantage point, you will able to single out other places to visit:
Verbier, Great St. Bernhard, Chamonix ....

* *An unusual love story: in the 19th century, a lady from Paris settled in Chemin,
bestowing rich gifts upon the village ... Urs will be delighted to tell you the rest of the story.
